Shopify Sync for Dolibarr : Orders, stock, catalogue and invoices

Version history: how Shopify Sync has evolved

From the first connector to advanced catalogue exchanges, successive versions add features and improvements for everyday operations. Below are the documented changes, newest first. Available options depend on your configuration.

Version 1.10.3: stock follows the variant when it moves to another product

• Fix: when the last variant of a product was deleted, the Shopify product, simple again, kept that variant’s quantity instead of the Dolibarr stock until the next stock movement. Now, whenever a Shopify variant is linked to another Dolibarr product (variant kept when the product becomes simple again, new variant, first publication), that product’s stock is sent to the store.
• The “Sync” button of a product card also aligns stock: that of each variant, or that of the simple product.
• Nothing changes when Shopify is the source of truth for stock, when stock sync is off, or for a product that does not track stock.

Version 1.10.2: order origin and billed classification

• Each imported order gets the Dolibarr origin “Shopify Web” or “Shopify POS” (point of sale), two entries added to the Origins dictionary: the order list shows and filters them. An origin entered by hand is never replaced.
• New option: classify as billed the paid orders invoiced on Shopify, without creating a Dolibarr invoice. They leave the “to invoice” views. Off by default.
• A backfill button applies both to the orders already imported, for the period of your choice.

Version 1.10.1: queue pass on every enqueue, product button true to the source of truth

• The “Process the queue as soon as an event arrives” option now triggers on every enqueue, changes made in Dolibarr included, not only when a webhook arrives.
• Fix: with Shopify as the source of truth for products, the “Sync” button of a product card still exported the card to the store. It now re-reads the product from Shopify and only appears for a product that exists there.

Version 1.10.0: variants synchronised end to end, both ways

• Deleting a variant in Dolibarr re-queues the parent product, whether the child card is deleted or only the combination: the variant disappears from the store.
• A variant added by hand on Shopify stops the export in every mode, with a message naming it; the module only removes what it created.
• Renaming an attribute value updates the variant instead of recreating it: stock, history and orders stay attached. Options are built in the order of your Dolibarr positions.
• Safer return to a simple product, SKU-linked variants never removed, flat-imported products kept up to date, a product deleted on Shopify unlinked with all its variants.
• Stock of a product missing from the store is skipped cleanly instead of failing five times; orphan options left by a previous version are repaired.

Version 1.9.3: a variant deleted in Dolibarr is removed from the store

• The module recognises the variants it created itself and removes them from the store on the next product export, instead of blocking every later export.
• Last variant deleted: the product becomes simple again, with its default variant.
• Variant reference changed: the export stops and says what to align, rather than deleting and recreating the variant.
• New setting “Variants deleted in Dolibarr”, on by default.

Version 1.9.2: a deleted product no longer clutters the dashboard

• A job pointing at a product deleted in Dolibarr was retried five times, with a growing delay, before ending in a red failure without saying why. It now stops on the first attempt, with a message naming the product and explaining that it no longer exists.
• Better still: no job is created at all for a product that is gone, instead of one doomed to fail.
• Ordinary failures such as a network outage keep their retries.
• The "not found or unreadable" message is now reserved for its real cause: a product that exists but is not accessible in this entity.
• About photo order: a reorder is picked up as soon as it is queued, the nightly reconciliation being only a safety net.

Version 1.9.1: job launcher too rare, processing on webhook reception

• New option “Process the queue when a webhook arrives” for hosts whose job launcher runs rarely (DoliCloud: about once a day): when a Shopify event arrives and the scheduled tasks have not run for five minutes, the module triggers the processing itself. Off by default, no effect with a real cron.
• The launch URL for an external cron is shown in the setup, ready to be called every five minutes by a service such as cron-job.org.
• The diagnostic tells apart a command-line task, a disabled task, a run that ended in error, tasks never run and a launcher that runs too rarely, each with its fix.

Version 1.9.0: large catalogues, portable scheduled jobs, actionable diagnostic

• The setup assistant no longer has a size limit: the catalogue is read, analysed and confirmed in batches, with a progress bar, and resumes where it stopped. Every proposed operation is applied in one confirmation, in batches of 200, each row being re-read on Shopify right before it is linked.
• Scheduled jobs switch to the “method” type: they run with Dolibarr’s job launcher, with no server setting, including on DoliCloud or shared hosting. Re-enabling the module converts the existing jobs.
• The diagnostic compares the token expiry with the current time, attempts the renewal and shows Shopify’s exact answer; a secret entered in “client ID” mode is tried as soon as it is saved.
• With a Dev Dashboard app, the client secret signs the webhooks when the “App secret” field is empty.
• New “What to do next” card on the dashboard and the setup: every blocking point with the button that fixes it.
• Interface available in Spanish.

Version 1.8.8: knowing what failed, and why

• The “Order import abandoned” message now tells apart a job without any order identifier (no call attempted) from a read that really failed on Shopify, whose error is reported.
• Every message names the job involved, to find it on the dashboard, and states that nothing was written in Dolibarr.
• An unreadable job payload is reported as such, distinguishing empty content from invalid JSON.

Version 1.8.7: storefront description separate from the one on documents

• New setting “Source of the Shopify description”: the published description can come from an extra attribute or from the external reference, the Dolibarr description being the fallback. Empty by default.
• An HTML text attribute keeps its formatting; plain text is still converted, line breaks included.
• Fix: the description of a product with variants was sent raw, without conversion or escaping. Both paths now handle the description the same way.

Version 1.8.6: readable failure causes and a photo order that stays in sync

• Attribute added to a product already online without being set on its variants: the module refuses before any call, names the variants and the missing attribute, and confirms the shop was not touched.
• A failure due to missing data is no longer retried five times; it fails at once with its cause. Network or API failures keep their retries.
• Anomalies reported by Shopify are logged even when the product was created anyway.
• Reordering photos by drag and drop is detected by the nightly reconciliation, which queues the products concerned.
• Scheduled jobs stopped: the alert appears in the Shopify box of the product card, with the date of the last run.
• The diagnostic reads the module version from its descriptor instead of a hard-coded number.

Version 1.8.5 : your variant photos reach Shopify

• New Variant images option: photos attached to your Dolibarr variant records are published as media of the Shopify product, where only the parent product photos were sent until now.
• The variant label is written as the alt text of each image, so a theme can match a swatch to its variant.
• Two variants whose photo has the same file name no longer replace one another.
• Replacing the photo of a single variant is now enough to trigger publication.
• Please note: Shopify attaches media to the product, not to the variant; linking a media directly to a variant is not handled yet.

Version 1.8.4 : select list labels, storefront title and clearer messages

• New option: publish the label of a select list extrafield instead of its technical key, so a code no longer shows on your storefront. The key remains the default behaviour.
• New option: build the Shopify title from the external reference or from an extrafield, falling back to the Dolibarr label. Your internal names stay internal.
• A product that was just created and has no category yet gets a clear message: the export starts on its own as soon as an allowed category is attached.
• A value entered on a variant but not published is now reported in the log instead of being silently ignored.

Version 1.8.3 : turning a simple product into a variant product

• A product already published on Shopify as a simple product can now receive variants in Dolibarr: the Shopify product is converted while keeping its address, its ID and its history.
• Variants created directly in Shopify stay protected: the export stops for those alone, naming the reference concerned and what to do about it.
• Variants just created in Dolibarr are no longer wrongly excluded by the category scope.
• No more second Shopify product created for a variant.

Version 1.8.2 : Online Store channel recognised on every shop

• Fixed the detection of the Online Store channel, which prevented new simple and variant products from being published.
• The channel is now recognised whatever the language of your shop.
• Created collections are no longer published to unwanted channels.
• Nothing to reconfigure: products left pending are published at the next Sync now.

Version 1.8.1 : variant product publication and individual sale status

• Fix publication of newly exported variant products to the Online Store when the publication option is enabled.
• Repair an existing, unpublished product using Sync now without creating a duplicate Shopify product.
• New Follow variant sale status option: unpublish an off-sale child and republish it when offered for sale again, independently of sibling variants.
• Preserve variant IDs, inventory quantities and option values, including when every child is off sale.
• For existing variants, only Online Store publication is controlled; other sales channels remain unchanged.
• Validate the entire group before any unpublication. Unknown Shopify variants, ambiguous SKUs or incomplete reads stop the export with a visible explanation.
• Publication failures remain visible and retryable, including after interrupted creation. Ordinary updates do not republish a product deliberately removed after a successful publication.
• Check API compatibility before saving, diagnose channel access and request publication permissions through OAuth when enabled.
• Disabled by default, settings preserved after reactivation, no catalogue-wide export on saving and no new database table.

Setup: API 2026-07 or later and read_publications / write_publications permissions. SKU-linked products remain managed in Shopify. To remove one child, keep the approval field checked throughout the group and use that child’s off-sale status.

Behaviour: a new off-sale variant is created unpublished on all channels to avoid temporary exposure; putting it back on sale through this option publishes it to the Online Store only. Disabling the option does not republish removed variants. The parent must be active and published.

Validation: 2,013 local checks passed on Dolibarr 18, 20 and 24. Publication mutations were simulated; acceptance on a real Shopify store remains to be confirmed before production use.

Version 1.8.0 : catalogue selection, product approval and photo order

• Select several Dolibarr category branches for Shopify, including each selected category and its current and future subcategories.
• Exclude branches with priority over inclusions, even when a product also belongs to an allowed category.
• Optionally require a boolean product extrafield, such as "Ready for webshop", before creating or updating a Shopify product.
• Check eligibility before queueing and again when processing, including manual exports. A product that becomes ineligible while waiting is skipped.
• Preview the complete local catalogue with counts, reasons for paused exports and 20 examples per page, without saving settings or contacting Shopify.
• Align exported collections, tags and the configured navigation menu with the selected category scope.
• For variants, use the parent’s categories for inclusion; an excluded category on the parent or a child pauses the group. When approval is required, every member must be approved.
• Optionally follow the order of photos in Dolibarr Linked files. Reorder existing Shopify media without uploading unchanged files again; the first synchronized photo becomes the main image.
• Detect native drag-and-drop changes, including older indexed files, and track Shopify’s asynchronous reorder until completion. Media added directly in Shopify are preserved.
• New options are disabled by default. Existing settings survive updates and reactivation. Saving filters does not start a bulk export or delete or unpublish existing Shopify products.
• 1,611 integration checks passed on Dolibarr 18, 20 and 24, including a preview with 12,800 additional catalogue records.

Upgrading to 1.8.0: back up your database and documents, install the new code, then reactivate the module to register the photo-order hook. Settings are preserved. Enable category filtering, product approval and photo order explicitly in Settings > Catalogue.

Scope: filters apply to outgoing catalogue updates. Orders, stock and shipments keep their own settings. Out-of-scope products remain on Shopify; the configured menu is rebuilt during subsequent catalogue processing. Products linked by SKU keep their catalogue managed in Shopify. The separate first-time setup assistant retains its 2,000-record analysis limit.

Version 1.7.3 : product images and preserved settings

• Fixed image exports from the Linked files tab using the actual product directory, with support for legacy photo folders and uppercase file extensions.
• Adding a photo alone now queues a product export without editing another product field, when the product flow, image export option and Dolibarr catalogue source are enabled.
• Image content fingerprints detect replacements; logs report images found, uploaded and removed.
• Unavailable document storage is reported instead of triggering media removal. Media added directly in Shopify remain protected.
• Credentials, mappings, settings and disabled synchronization flows are preserved when the module is deactivated and reactivated.
• Functional checks on Dolibarr 18, 20 and 24, with real catalogue, inventory and shipment tests on Shopify.

Photos: public sharing links are not required. Images are sent when the queue is next processed. Products linked by SKU keep their catalogue managed in Shopify.

Upgrading to 1.7.3: back up your database and documents, then install the updated code before deactivating the old version. Reactivate only if required, for example to create missing tables from an earlier upgrade. A complete 1.7.2 installation requires no new tables. Settings already erased must be restored from a backup or entered again.

Version 1.7.2 : installation package compatibility

• Correct Dolibarr loading in the setup assistant for installations in the root or custom directory.
• Package checked with the official Dolibarr validator running locally.
• Preserve setup assistant and synchronization engine behaviour.

Version 1.7.1 : connection fields match your authentication mode

• Immediately show the relevant authentication fields in Settings and the setup assistant.
• Permanent token, Client ID and secret: hide unnecessary fields while preserving saved credentials.
• Keep the webhook signing secret available in every mode.
• Prompt users to save a changed authentication mode before reconnecting.

Version 1.7.0 : first-time setup assistant

• Optional six-step journey: Shopify connection, catalogue, SKU matching, warehouses, invoicing, then preview and start.
• Choose to import from Shopify, export simple Dolibarr products or link two existing catalogues by SKU.
• Detect missing references, duplicates and ambiguous matches before preparing the first batch.
• Map a warehouse to a Shopify location or retain existing advanced rules.
• Check invoicing options, payment method and bank account.
• Private draft and change preview: no live setting is saved before final confirmation.
• First catalogue batch limited to 20 explicitly selected operations, with protection against duplicate confirmations.
• Assistant limits: analyse up to 2,000 Shopify variants and 2,000 Dolibarr records; advanced tools handle complex cases. Orders and stock then use the usual synchronization flows.
• Reuse an existing OAuth connection; configure or verify new OAuth authorization, webhooks and scheduled tasks in advanced settings.

Version 1.6.0 : operational diagnostics and targeted retries

• Dashboard for the Shopify connection, scheduled tasks and latest reconciliation, with timestamped checks.
• Track each flow and direction: last completed operation, queued and running jobs, failures, conflicts and queue age.
• Understand causes and suggested actions for authentication, permissions, missing source invoices, amount discrepancies and interrupted processing.
• Filter processing history and retry only selected failures or conflicts, up to 50 at a time.
• Export a support diagnostic without tokens, secrets, order contents or customer data.
• Better visibility of refunds blocked by a missing source invoice.

Version 1.5.0 : automatic Shopify token renewal

Version 1.5.0 adds expiring Shopify token management to reduce manual renewals while retaining the existing permanent-token mode.

• Three connection modes: permanent token, Client ID and secret, or Shopify authorization (OAuth).
• Automatic token renewal before expiry and preventive refresh during scheduled reconciliation.
• Reconnect button to restore the connection from the settings page.
• Expanded diagnostics: connection mode, token expiry and warning before the refresh token expires.
• OAuth callback checks Shopify signatures, a single-use state and the configured store domain.

Which Shopify connection should I choose? An existing permanent token remains usable. Client ID and secret mode requires the app and store to belong to the same Shopify organization; OAuth provides a Shopify authorization flow. Use the credentials and permissions required by your selected mode.

Version 1.4.3 : Processing recovery and refund accuracy

• Stricter amount checks when replaying orders after line repair.
• Retry payment recording after a failure, checking for payments already linked.
• Distinguish refunds waiting for their source invoice from actual credit-note creation failures.
• Use the shipping tax recorded in shipping-refund adjustments.
• Protect existing Shopify tags when renaming categories.

Version 1.4.2 : Incomplete orders and recovery

• Repair missing shipping lines before validation or invoicing.
• Detect changed Shopify quantities and flag them for correction.
• Retry validation of repaired orders and draft invoices.
• Add optional strict amount checking between Shopify and Dolibarr.
• Exclude pending refunds and authorization voids; allocate refunded items using the tax rates in their details.
