🎯 Module Overview

MBI Propale History turns the successive revisions of a commercial proposal into a single, traceable version history, directly inside Dolibarr. Instead of duplicating a proposal into a document unrelated to the original, you create a new version from the proposal card: the link with the original proposal is recorded, every version is numbered, and a selector lets you move from one version to another without leaving the card. The module is aimed at sales teams whose quotations evolve throughout the negotiation.

🧭 Benefits

  • Keep the complete history of a negotiation without scattering unrelated documents across your proposal list.
  • Move from one version to another in a single click, from any of them.
  • Compare the amount, the date and the status of every version at a glance, and see what changed thanks to the version notes.
  • Rely on stable version numbers: a number given to a customer never changes.
  • Nothing to configure: the module is operational as soon as it is enabled and respects the Dolibarr access rights.

⚙️ Features

  • Adds a New version button to the proposal card, active only for users allowed to create proposals.
  • Displays a confirmation window before the version is created, with the standard duplication options: update prices and update line descriptions; the new version keeps the third party of the proposal.
  • Also offers a new delivery date in that window, and shifts the line dates accordingly, when the corresponding standard Dolibarr option is enabled.
  • Also offers in that window to close the current proposal as Not signed when it is validated: the box is unchecked by default and only appears for users allowed to close proposals, so that the same deal is not counted several times among open proposals.
  • Automatically records the link with the original proposal and attaches every version to it, whichever version the new one is created from: the history remains a single list.
  • Numbers versions automatically: 1 for the original proposal, then 2, 3 and so on in creation order; a number once given never changes, even when another version is deleted.
  • Displays the version number under the reference, in the banner of the proposal card.
  • Adds under the banner a version selector showing, for each version the user is allowed to see, its number, its reference, its creation date, its amount excluding tax, its status and its version notes; the version being viewed is preselected and choosing another version opens it directly.
  • Removes deleted proposals from the selector without renumbering the other versions.
  • Adds a Version notes complementary attribute to proposals, editable at any time and available in the proposal lists; each new version starts with empty notes.

🧩 Requirements and Dependencies

  • Required: the Dolibarr Proposals module, enabled automatically if needed when MBI Propale History is enabled; the module works exclusively on the proposal card.
  • Required: the permission to create and modify proposals, for the users who create new versions.
  • Optional: when the standard Dolibarr option allowing the delivery date to be changed while cloning a proposal is enabled, the version creation window also offers that date.
  • Optional: the permission to close proposals, to close the current proposal when a new version is created.

✅ Compatibility

  • Dolibarr minimum required: 19.0
  • Module designed to blend into the standard Dolibarr proposal card, with no modification of the core.
  • PHP minimum required: 7.4 (tested with PHP 8.2)
  • Available languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian

🔧 Installation

  1. Download the module ZIP archive without unpacking it.
  2. In Dolibarr, go to Home > Setup > Modules/Applications.
  3. Open the Deploy/Install external module tab.
  4. Upload the module ZIP archive.
  5. Search for and enable MBI Propale History.
  6. No setting is required: the module is operational as soon as it is enabled, and its setup page shows its documentation.
  7. No module-specific permission needs to be granted: creating a version follows the Dolibarr permission to create and modify proposals.

Manual installation: copy the mbipropalehistory folder into /htdocs/custom/, then enable the module from the module list.

🔄 Updates and Uninstallation

  • Back up your files and database before any update.
  • Read the ChangeLog, then deploy the new archive over the existing version.
  • Then disable and enable the module again from Home > Setup > Modules/Applications: the database changes are applied at that time, and the existing data is kept and updated automatically.
  • Disabling the module removes the version creation button, the version selector and the version number from the proposal card, and hides the Version notes attribute.
  • The data created by the module — the links between versions and the content of the Version notes attribute — is kept both when the module is disabled and when its files are deleted. Removing it is a deliberate manual operation.

Article 4 — Requirements and compatibility. The Module is designed for the environments stated in its documentation (Dolibarr 19.0 minimum required, tested version: Dolibarr 23.0.2; PHP 7.4 minimum required). Its operation is not guaranteed outside those versions, in the event of modification of the Dolibarr core, nor in the presence of conflicting third-party modules. It is the User's responsibility to check the compatibility of their environment before installation.

Article 5 — User obligations. The User undertakes to: (a) perform a full backup (files and database) before any installation or update; (b) test the Module on a test environment before going live where possible; (c) use the Module in accordance with its documentation and applicable regulations; (d) keep their Dolibarr instance under normal security and update conditions.

Article 7 — Warranties. The Module is provided "as is", in accordance with articles 15 and 16 of the GPL licence and within the limits permitted by law. MB Informatique SARL does not warrant that the Module is free of defects, operates without interruption or meets any particular need of the User. Mandatory statutory warranties that apply are not affected by this article.

Article 8 — Liability. Within the limits permitted by law, MB Informatique SARL shall not be held liable for indirect damages (in particular loss of data, loss of business, loss of turnover, damage to reputation), nor for damages resulting from: use of the Module that does not comply with its documentation; the absence of a prior backup; a modification of the Module by the User or a third party; an event of force majeure. For professional Users, the total liability of MB Informatique SARL, on all grounds combined, is limited to the amount actually paid for the Module over the last twelve (12) months. Nothing herein excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, in particular in the event of wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

Article 9 — Personal data. The Module operates within the User's Dolibarr instance: the functional data it processes remains stored on the User's systems, and the User remains the data controller within the meaning of the GDPR. In order to allow a version availability check or access to the activation service, the Module may declare to the Dolibarr core service addresses operated by MB Informatique SARL. When the User triggers one of these functions, Dolibarr may contact the service concerned and transmit the technical identifier of the Module to it. The Module contains no licence key and does not itself transmit either the contents of the Dolibarr database or the domain of the instance. As with any connection to an Internet service, the public IP address used to establish the connection may appear in the technical logs of the receiving server, for security and operational purposes. The User may exercise their rights regarding personal data by writing to info@mb-informatique.fr.

Article 10 — Intellectual property and trademarks. "Dolibarr" is a trademark belonging to its respective owners. The Module is an independent development by MB Informatique SARL, neither affiliated with nor endorsed by the Dolibarr association. The copyright notices contained in the Module files must not be removed, in accordance with the GPL licence.

Article 11 — Term and changes. These Terms of Use apply from the first use of the Module and for the entire duration of its use. MB Informatique SARL may amend the Terms of Use for future versions of the Module; the applicable version is the one shipped with the version of the Module in use. Termination of the services does not affect the rights granted by the GPL licence.

Article 12 — Governing law and disputes. These Terms of Use are governed by French law. In the event of difficulty, the User is invited first to send a written complaint to MB Informatique SARL in order to seek an amicable solution. Failing an amicable resolution, any dispute with a professional User falls within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Commercial Court of Mulhouse, including in the case of summary proceedings, warranty claims, incidental claims or multiple defendants. Consumer Users retain the benefit of the mandatory rules of jurisdiction and may use the consumer mediation scheme free of charge under the conditions provided for by articles L.612-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code. Up-to-date information on the consumer mediation applicable to the services of MB Informatique SARL is set out in its General Terms and Conditions of Sale, available at https://www.mb-informatique.fr/cgv.html.

Article 13 — Miscellaneous. If any provision hereof is declared void or unenforceable, the remaining provisions retain their full validity. These Terms of Use are written in French; in the event of any discrepancy between the French version and a translation, the French version prevails.
