Edit a PDF without ever touching the original

AtelierPDF is built on one rule that is not negotiable: the file you import is never opened for writing again. It is archived read-only, its SHA-256 fingerprint is computed and re-checked every time it is displayed, and every edit produces a separate file, numbered, dated and written to the log. If an original's fingerprint drifts from the recorded one, the module says so and blocks editing.

That is what separates a workshop from a plain PDF editor: you can correct, hide, reorder and export, and still prove at any time that the source document is intact.

What the module does

Controlled import. File extension and %PDF signature checked, size and page count bounded by your settings, embedded JavaScript, digital signatures and Factur-X XML detected and reported. A PDF protected by its issuer without an open password — a bank statement, an incoming invoice — is accepted and can be edited; a PDF that needs a password to open is refused. The file is parsed in PHP, byte by byte — never executed.

Layer-based editing. White-out, text in the font of your choice, images, logos, stamps, watermarks and page numbering. Zoom from 50 to 300 %, grid, millimetre snapping, layer locking, undo / redo, and a draft set aside every 30 seconds: a tab closed by mistake loses nothing. Analysing a word reports the detected font, its licence, size and colour, and offers free equivalents ranked by resemblance; your choice is remembered for next time.

Find and replace. Ctrl+F reads every page and lists the matches with their context. Replacing lays a white-out in the background colour sampled on the spot, then rewrites the text in the detected size, colour and style.

Read a scan. A page with no text is detected and offered for recognition, in French, English or Spanish. The recognised text becomes a transparent layer: the page keeps its appearance and becomes selectable and searchable. Everything is computed in the browser — neither the image nor the text leaves the machine.

QR code, link, attachment. A vector QR code, crisp at any size. An area made clickable, restricted to http, https and email addresses. A file embedded in the PDF — an invoice's XML, a quotation's spreadsheet — which the recipient extracts from their reader.

Redaction that actually removes. Redaction here is not a black rectangle laid on top. The page is redrawn with the areas filled in, the server verifies that coverage is complete, and the original page is then replaced. Text outside the areas is rewritten so it stays selectable. Nothing of the redacted content survives in the output file, and the reason for the redaction is written to the log. The operation requires a dedicated permission.

Page management. Rotate, reorder and remove from the thumbnails, and insert pages from another archived document. Removed pages come back with one click.

Templates and batch processing. The "Certified copy" stamp, watermark or page numbering you apply every week is saved as a template, then applied to up to 50 documents at once. Each document gets a new version; no original is touched, and redacted documents are left out.

A font book. Your TTF and OTF fonts, with an embedding-rights check: a font that forbids embedding in a PDF is refused before it becomes a problem.

Export. Edited PDF, page-by-page images, PDF/A-3 for long-term archiving, Factur-X (PDF/A-3 with embedded CII XML, BASIC, EN 16931 and EXTENDED profiles), CII XML and UBL 2.1 XML on their own. Factur-X can be built from an archived document or straight from a Dolibarr invoice. Data missing for the chosen profile is listed before export: nothing is invented.

Audit trail. Every import, edit, export, original download, settings change and integrity alert is logged with the user, IP address, timestamp and before / after fingerprints. Filters, CSV export, adjustable retention period.

Backups. AES-256 encrypted archive of documents, versions, fonts and log, on demand. Restore with per-entry fingerprint verification.

Dolibarr integration

An AtelierPDF tab is added to proposals, orders, invoices and projects: the object's PDF goes into the workshop with one click, and the edited version travels back — attached to the record's documents, or emailed from its own send form, never overwriting or duplicating an existing file. Ten separate permissions can be given to user groups, and the module emits events that other modules can react to.

Comfort

Accordion menus, rounded buttons, spaced-out elements, and an Appearance screen where colours, corner radii, density and text size are set with a live preview and a WCAG AA contrast check. Ten lists — stamps, preset texts, redaction reasons, colour swatches,
