Module Description: Mind Map for Dolibarr ERP & CRM

The Mind Map for Dolibarr ERP & CRM module introduces a visual and interactive tool for information management, designed with an extremely lean approach focused on operational efficiency. Unlike standard Dolibarr modules, the "Map" object has been intentionally stripped of superfluous structural elements: generic fields usually generated by ModuleBuilder (such as quantity, amounts, third parties, projects, or additional notes) are not part of the active data model. Similarly, traditional workflows related to document status (such as validation, setting to draft, or reopening) and the classic reference field (ref) have been disabled or removed from the user interface flow. The identification of each map relies solely on the row and its corresponding label, while the entire functional content resides within the YAML-formatted text saved in the record's description field.

The user interface has been radically optimized to maximize the visual workspace and encourage user focus. In the list view (map_list.php), the description field is displayed as a visible column for quick reference of the content. Within the detailed card view (map_card.php), alignment with the display page (map.php) is absolute: the top chrome line of the card and the default element containing the file/photo icon in the header have been removed, expanding the area dedicated to the mind map. The "Back to list" link in the header has also been removed, shifting the focus to the primary actions. At the bottom of the card, standard action buttons give way to an immediate "Save" command, which allows for the in-place update of the YAML description without the need to switch to a separate edit mode.

The core of the module lies in its high interactivity and the real-time bidirectional synchronization between the code and the graphical representation. The user is provided with an "intelligent" YAML editor, featuring support for auto-formatting and indentation via the Tab key; to ensure maximum visual clearance, this editor is housed within a collapsible and retractable sidebar. Any modifications made in the YAML editor are instantly reflected on the map, and conversely, any direct manipulation performed on the map—such as renaming, adding, deleting, or moving nodes—automatically updates the underlying YAML source code. To facilitate the start of a new project, creating a map automatically generates a root node within the YAML structure using the title of the map itself.

The user experience is further enhanced by advanced editing and sharing functionalities:

  • Canvas Interactivity: Users can easily reorganize the structure of the diagram using drag-and-drop operations and access quick edit commands via a context menu activated by right-clicking on individual nodes.
  • Dedicated Toolbar: Features quick buttons for adding nodes, adjusting zoom levels, and taking screenshots of the workspace, the latter implemented using the dom-to-image library.
  • PDF Export: The system manages the generation of PDF documents by applying specific formatting rules, which utilize node labels approximately twice the base size combined with compact spacing. This logic ensures high legibility of the diagram on both paper and static digital media, while minimizing the overall footprint on the page.
