Landed costs

In Dolibarr, a product's weighted average price (WAP) is computed when stock comes in, from the purchase price only. Freight, customs duties, forwarder or insurance come on separate invoices and are not spread: stock value and margins are wrong, or prices must be corrected by hand, line by line.

Landed costs groups in a shipment file the purchase orders that arrived together, even from different suppliers (a container, a truck). You enter the costs and choose how to spread them:

• by value, by quantity, by weight (from product cards) or equally;
• to the cent: the amount spread always equals the total of the costs;
• carrier invoice linked to the file to find the document.

The allocation is shown line by line (net price, allocated costs, landed unit cost), then applied:

• before receiving: the landed cost is written on the draft receptions, and Dolibarr computes the WAP with it on validation;
• after receiving (invoice arriving later): the WAP is corrected on the part still in stock only; past sales are not revalued.

Every change is logged (old and new value) and can be undone, all or nothing, as long as nothing has moved. Option: also update the products' cost price. "Landed costs" tab on the purchase order. No accounting entry is changed. Interface in French, English and German. Compatible with Dolibarr 19 to 24. Written by Dolix (dolix.fr). Tested on Dolibarr 19.0.4, 20.0.4, 21.0.4, 22.0.5, 23.0.4, 24.0.1 and 24.0.2, with PHP 8.2; cost allocation also tested with PHP 7.4 and 8.3.

Limitations and exclusions

• No accounting entry and no invoice is changed: the module acts on reception costs, the weighted average price and, optionally, the cost price.
• Company currency only; no customs tariff by commodity code or customs value calculation; no spreading by lot or serial number. Service lines and free-text lines get no costs.
• Applying before receiving needs the Receptions module and a draft reception. If stock moves when the purchase order or supplier invoice is validated, no application is possible.
• The weighted average price correction after receiving is written on the product, with no stock movement. Quantities not yet received get no costs (a warning says so).
