Serial Number

Overview

The Serial Numbers module adds serial number traceability to your Dolibarr commercial documents: quotes, orders, invoices, delivery orders and contracts. Serial numbers are entered directly on document lines, carried over automatically from one document to the next, printed on PDFs and searchable at any time.

Simple and complementary

The module works on its own, without the Stock module, warehouses or batch-managed products: you enter serial numbers where you need them. If you also use Dolibarr's native Lots/Serial numbers module, the two work together: serial numbers in stock can be picked directly from the entry form. Dolibarr remains in charge of stock management.

New in version 1.7

• Pick from stock: for products managed with unique serial numbers by the native Lots/Serial numbers module, select the serial numbers in stock (with their warehouse) directly from the entry form
• Automatic cleanup: serial numbers are deleted together with their line or document and become available again
• Optional stock removal on invoicing: for sales invoiced without a shipment, serial numbers can be removed from stock when the invoice is validated and returned to stock with a credit note (disabled by default)

Key features

• Dual entry mode: enter serial numbers as a range (From/To) for consecutive series, or as individual values separated by commas for non-consecutive numbers
• Automatic calculation: the last serial number of the range is calculated from the line quantity
• Automatic suggestion: the magic wand button pre-fills the "From" field with the next available serial number (last known + 1), for numeric and alphanumeric formats
• Pick from stock: serial numbers in stock are listed with their warehouse; optionally, serial numbers declared but never stocked are listed too; serial numbers already used on another document are greyed out with the document reference, or hidden
• Format validation: prefix + total length, or a format mask (e.g. SN26-#####: # = digit, @ = letter, * = any character)
• Free format: disable validation to accept any alphanumeric serial number (e.g. SN-01-000010, ASFD0002DB)
• Configurable uniqueness control: global (all products), per product, or no control at all
• Automatic propagation: quote → order, quote → contract, order → invoice, order → contract, order → delivery order, contract → quote / order / invoice
• Contract support: serial number entry on contract lines, display on the contract card and PDF
• Flexible cloning: do not copy, copy with a warning, or copy silently
• Global search: find any serial number across all document types; the full list is displayed without a filter
• Smart display: consecutive serial numbers are grouped into ranges (e.g. 2511000151-2511000153, 2511000155)
• PDF integration: serial numbers are printed under each line description
• Enriched lists: serial number column with filtering in invoice, order, quote, shipment and contract lists
• CSV import: direct import by line ID, or assisted import by document reference and product reference
