More info...

Dolibarr only prints an automatic VAT statement for French companies. A German, Austrian, Belgian or Luxembourg company has to type it by hand on every invoice.

EU VAT Mentions works out the situation of each invoice by itself and prints your country's legal statement, in the language of the invoice:

  • small business VAT exemption;
  • goods supplied to a business in another EU country (exempt);
  • services to a business in another EU country (reverse charge);
  • export of goods outside the EU;
  • services to a customer outside the EU;
  • domestic reverse charge (construction…), chosen on the invoice.

Countries: France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria. Languages: French, German, English, and Dutch for Belgium. Each text cites its legal basis; the official sources are shipped with the module.

On the invoice card, a line shows in advance which statement will be printed, or warns you when an EU customer has no VAT number. You can force another statement on any invoice.

French small businesses: from version 21 to 24, Dolibarr prints "article L. 223-3 du CIBS", an article that is not in force (postponed to 1 January 2027). An option corrects it to "TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI".

Nothing is written to the database: the statement is added when the PDF is produced. Works with the core invoice templates (sponge, crabe, octopus); a variable lets you place it in the footer or an ODT template.

Compatible with Dolibarr 19 to 24. Written by Dolix (dolix.fr). The texts follow the official sources; they are no substitute for your accountant's advice.

Tested on Dolibarr 19.0.4, 20.0.4, 21.0.4, 22.0.5, 23.0.4, 24.0.1 and 24.0.2, with PHP 8.2; syntax checked with PHP 7.4, 8.3 and 8.4.

Limitations and exclusions

  • Companies established in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria only. For a company in another country, the module prints nothing and says so on the invoice card.
  • Customer invoices and credit notes only: nothing on proposals, orders or supplier invoices.
  • The module neither calculates nor changes any VAT rate or amount. You set the line to 0%; the module prints the matching statement.
  • The customer's VAT number is only checked as filled in, not validated with the European Commission (VIES). EU customer without a number: no statement, and a warning.
  • Sale at 0% to a customer in the same country: no automatic statement; domestic reverse charge is chosen by hand on the invoice. Not covered: distance sales to consumers (OSS one-stop shop), margin scheme.
